March 19, 2018: Support LES Inclusion as an Opportunity Zone to Attract Impact Investments
Designating the Lower East Side an Opportunity Zone will attract impact investment in community resilience, renewable energy, energy efficiency, jobs, and economic development. LESReady! called on Governor Cuomo make the designation and pressed other local elected officials to support the effort.

September 22, 2017: Hurricane Relief Statement
In the wake of 2017’s unprecedented hurricane season, LESReady! expressed solidarity with impacted communities in the US and Caribbean, and encouraged local residents to show the same level of support that our community received after Superstorm Sandy.

March 24, 2017: East Side Coastal Resiliency Project: LESReady! Speaks Out in Favor of Science and Against Displacement
On March 24 the City released its 13th proposed amendment to the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project, based on community feedback and new design challenges. LESReady! spoke out about the importance of climate science and the need to defend against displacement, both natural and man-made.

2016

November 3, 2016: Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery Announces Selections for NY Rising Community Center Program
When the Lower East Side wasn’t initially included in planned official long-term recovery efforts, LESReady! advocated on the community’s behalf. As a result, the LES was named a NY Rising Community, and 5 member organizations were selected by NY State to provide post-emergency social services in the event of another disaster.
